I believe that Baurelein makes some good points but I think he is very ignorant. I strongly agree with his argument about how everyone needs to know their history. History is likely to repeat itself and we have a tendency to look at the past for help with current issues. Also global issues that do not directly involve us still have an impact on us. One major example right now is the raising prices in oil which affects the price of gas. This is because of the current fighting in the middle east.
He is arrogant though because he insults us for using the latest technology and socializing with the use of computers. You cannot tell me that when he was younger he did not want to have the latest items and that he did not socialize with people. He just did it differently. Times change and so do the things we do. He also cannot call us the laziest generation. I am sure that the generation before his thought that their generation was the best. One thing is that we are too involved in ourselves rather than others. We are always worrying about what people thing and feel the need to know as much as we can. That is why we are always texting or checking are Facebook because we are curious about the people that directly effect us more than what someone we don't know is doing.
I also agree that Bauerline makes some valid points, mostly about how much time we spend on leisure. I would have liked him to try to aim his opinion more positively, rather than trying to anger us into trying to change our culture.
ReplyDeleteI like you comment on the fact that we are more focused on ourselves more today than in the past. I think it all has to do with the economy that we live in. We believe that how we look makes use worthy to be a member of the society. We look to see how we can use each other than help each other out. But I think that it’s changing. Years ago I didn’t know my neighbors who lived beside us because they were shady. Just last weekend though one of them came up to my brother and was taking about how one of their kids had a baby and they talked for 20 minutes. Sorry I don’t remember who it was, I bad with names.
ReplyDeleteI liked the comment u wrote how u said that history is important because its likely to repeat itself. I believe that we should know about the major facts in history so we have knowledge of what to do and what not to do. However history keeps getting larger every day and this is just too much information to retain everything that has ever happened. We just need to focus on the major important events.
ReplyDeleteYou make a very good statement that times to change! There are always different expectations every generations. also that each generation see their generation the best. So he has no right to call us dumb its affensive and judgemental~
